First Haircut!

Well, I woke up this morning and decided that Matthew was going to part with his fro today. As you all know, I am not in to long, shaggy hair, especially on boys, so it was time for Matthew to get his hair chopped! It is still wavy, which is fine, but it is in control now! I was a little sad to chop off all his curls, but I know they will be back before too long. I love his haircut and I am very happy with my decision to take him today :) The before pictures are at the bottom.
Isn't he so handsome?!?!
The new and improved look!

Here we are getting ready to have his hair cut... he was a great little boy!

This isn't the best picture, but you can see how wild his hair was! This was taken right before we left!

This is Matthew's hair before we went to get it cut. See how it is hanging past his ear? It was way too long!

This video is funny. We have a microphone attached to a little keyboard. Matthew watches Andrew talk into it, and the first chance he gets, he is singing into it! He thinks he is so big doing this!

Andrew

We had Andrew's birthday party at Chuck-e-Cheese last weekend. He had so much fun! He was moving a little slow from everything he has been through, but he still had fun. I think every kid in Louisville decided to have their birthday that morning, so it was hard to keep up with Drew and his friends in the crowd. He is a lucky boy with really great friends and family. He got all kinds of cool gifts :) His actual birthday is on Wednesday (April 30). Rick and I saved a few things for him to open on his birthday and we will probably take him to McDonalds for him to play. That is his favorite place!!!

Here is Andrew opening gifts with his friend, Lucy.

This is Andrew with his "blue choo-choo" bike from Grandma. When you asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he would get really excited and say "Blue Choo-Choo Bike!"

Here is Andrew with his birthday cake! His friends had to help him blow out the candles!

Matthew

Well, they sure do learn things young! I have noticed that in the last few days Matthew will throw a major fit if he does not get what he wants. He throws his body on the floor then flips over, arches his back and tenses up his body and screams. Tonight he was playing with a spoon and I took it away from him and he threw a classic fit. I called Rick in to see it and we decided to tape it. On this clip, he definitely throws a fit, but he doesn't roll and arch his back like he has been doing. It is so funny to think that just over 10 months ago he lived inside my belly, and now here he is throwing a major fit. They learn things so fast!!!!!!!!! This happened about 45 minutes ago, and he is still carrying that spoon around! He is going to be ticked when he has to go to bed without it!

Spoke Too Soon!!!!

OK, so most people that look at this blog know all about our adventure to the ER Sunday night. Just a few short hours after I posted the last blog, Andrew's throat starting bleeding. After speaking to the doctor and realizing the blood was not stopping, we took him to the ER at Kosair where he ended up having emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. We made it there just in time because Andrew threw up all of the blood that he had been swallowing within a few minutes after arriving at the hospital. Oh, my.... it was quite an emotional adventure. He lost a lot of blood and it was very, very scary. So, I will save all the details because most people already know them! So, knock on wood this time..... Drew really is completely fine. He has been eating and playing and living without pain medicine since we got home from the hospital Monday afternoon. I check his mouth frequently for bleeding and everything looks great. As far as I can tell, Andrew is acting just like he always did! Maybe this time we are really in the clear!!!!!

Feeling Better!!!!

Well, I think we are in the clear!!!! The last two days have been great for Andrew... no coughing or crying from pain and he is eating as well as he ever did. He has been playing and acting perfectly normal!!!! Today we went to a friend's house and they wrestled with each other, watched Thomas, and chased each other. We finally have our active Andrew back!!! Oh... Matthew took a few steps today by himself. Scary!!! We were really hoping he would hold off on the walking until after our trip to Florida in the middle of May, but I guess he doesn't want to wait that long. He wants to do everything his brother does!!!!! He is starting to pull up and then stand by himself for a long time... it won't be too long and he will be running after Andrew!

Big smiles again. Here he is with his new train hat from Disney World.

Here he is with his friend, Dillon. They are both huge Thomas fans and a great match for each other. They had a blast wrestling and playing together today!!!!

Andrew and Matthew

Well, we are still in post-tonsillectomy recovery!!!!! It has been a week, and lets just say this is 7 days that I never want to do again in my life!!!!! The day of the surgery and the following two days were AWFUL, days 3 and 4 were pretty good as long as we kept up with the pain medicine. Then, day 5 got a little rough towards the end.... and today, day 6, has not been good!!!! He has been coughing up his scabs and pretty miserable. He is not wanting to drink again, so that has been a battle keeping his throat moist. From what I have read, kids his age take about 7-10 days to recover. That is Saturday for us....and we can't wait!!!!!!!!! Hopefully he will be his normal, active self in time for his party!!! Matthew is still the same ole wild man he has always been! He loves to play and laughs ALL THE TIME!!!!!! His hair gets a new curl everyday.... but it will definitely not be staying like that for long. Mommy will be chopping it off soon!!!!! He is learning new things everyday. He loves to give kisses, wave bye-bye, do his pat the bunny book, pretend to go night-night, and play!!!! Yesterday he started babbling ma-ma!!!!!
He is always smiling or laughing!!!!
Here is Matthew standing by himself... he doesn't do it very long, but he is getting better!
This is Andrew today... he took a 5 hour nap today...from 9-2. He is tuckered out!!!
This is Andrew the day after the surgery.... pretty miserable!!!!!!
